SUMMARY:Presently Engaged: Social Sciences Discussions
DESCRIPTION:The social sciences are those areas of inquiry directed at understanding human interaction through empirical research. The goal of the new Social Sciences Discussion Series is to explore how faculty in social sciences at Mount Allison experience their connection to contemporary issues as researchers and as teachers who are informed by their disciplinary backgrounds as well as by their membership as citizens in a broader community. \nEach informal roundtable talk will focus on a theme. Two or three faculty members will speak informally (10 minutes each\, no technology) on the issue of the day from their unique perspective. Then we’ll open the floor for a lively exchange of ideas with participants from different social science departments and visitors. Topics this year will be: \nNovember 18\, 2016\, 3:30 pm: Police brutality\nJanuary TBA\, 3:30 pm: Reconciliation \nMarch 10\, 2017\, 3:30 pm: Youth mental health \nApril 7\, 2017\, 3:30 pm: Climate change \nThe event is free of charge and in Avard Dixon\, room 117.

DESCRIPTION:The BFA graduating class is proud to present “Help Us Get Famous”\, a show and silent auction that will be held a the Mount Allison University Club from Friday March 25th 2016- April 6th 2016. Members of the Mount Allison community and Sackville community are encouraged to come and view and bid on various works by the MTA BFA Graduating Class of 2016. The final bidding will take place on April 6th from 2:00-4:00 with snacks and beverages provided! All proceeds will go to the financing of the BFA Graduation show “Less Famous Now” which will be on view at the Owens Art Gallery from April 15th to the 26th of June . The soft opening is on April 15th with the formal opening on May 14th all are welcome and encouraged to attend!\n– Love BFA Graduating Class 2016
