SUMMARY:Chignecto Naturalists' Club - Fort Folly First Nation Field Trip\, Trail Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Chignecto Naturalists’ Club is holding a field trip to Fort Folly First Nation. The Fort Folly community has built several trails through the woods. One trail has interpretive signs about medicinal plants which can be found there. The Cultural Trail has interpretive signs featuring various aspects of indigenous culture. The woods surrounding the trails abound with birds and forest plants. \nLeader:\nAndrew Macfarlane \nDate:\nSaturday 20 July. (Rain date Sunday 21 July) \nWho:\nAll are welcome\, whether a member of the CNC or not. Bring a friend! \nMeeting Places:\nAll participants should meet at the parking lot behind the Sackville Post office\, for carpooling. \nTime:\nMeet at 7:45 am for an 8 am departure. \nDirections:\nIf you wish to travel to the location yourself\, take the Bernard Trail Rd. which is just before Dorchester when travelling on Route 106 from Sackville. Then drive about 1 km along this road until you see the large Bingo Hall on your left. There is parking there and the trail head is close by. Please be at the parking lot by 8:20am. \nBring:\nBinoculars\, a scope if you have one\, and field guides or apps. And\, as always\, dress in layers and wear footwear suitable for possible wet terrain. NOTE: There will be lots of mosquitoes so bring bug spray or a bug jacket. \nDuration:\nThis is a half day trip and will last until noon. \nDifficulty:\nThis trip is on fairly flat terrain\, although it may be a bit wet in places.
