SUMMARY:Author Bob Stutt reading from his book “Puppet”
DESCRIPTION:This reading is part of Festival by the Marsh which runs July 12 – 27 and features plays\, music\, author readings\, and more! Visit www.festivalbythemarsh.com for all the details! \nThe arcane world of puppeteering is funny\, and sometimes profane. It’s just another day at the Toronto studio where Jim Tait works with Benny the Beaver – until the police swoop in and confiscate the puppet. \n\n\n\nFrom slinging dead cow heads at the lion park\, to juggling with Russian killers\, Jim’s career has been varied rather than profitable. Now his contented family life\, about to be swallowed whole by scandal\, blackmail and murder\, takes on shades of film noir. But who is pulling the strings? And is Jim a hero or a patsy? \n\n\n\nRobert (Bob) Stutt has worked in children’s television for over 40 years\, puppeteering on such shows as Fraggle Rock\, The Jim Henson Hour\, The Friendly Giant\, The Big Comfy Couch\, Sesame Park\, and as Iggy Iguana on Under the Umbrella Tree. He’s also written over 300 scripts produced for CBC\, CTV\, PBS\, and Disney\, and has performed live everywhere from the street corners of Toronto to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington. Bob lives in Fredericton\, NB\, with his wife\, Joanne\, dog\, Teddy\, and ginger cat\, Conan O’Brien. \n\n\n\nThis event is presented in association with Merlin Star Press. \nAt Café Tintamarre\, 34 Mallard Dr.

SUMMARY:"The Glass Menagerie" by Marshlight Theatre Company
DESCRIPTION:Marshlight Theatre is thrilled to present The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams as the final production of their inaugural season.\n\nThis classic of the modern theatre premiered on Broadway eighty years ago. The play was Williams’ first big success and won the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award as Best American Play in 1945. It has subsequently been performed around the world and adapted for film\, radio and television.\n\nThis moving play is a memory piece told from the point of view of Tom Wingfield who shares the story of his mother\, a faded southern belle who lives in the past; his painfully shy sister; and a gentleman caller who offers a glimmer of hope to the two women.\n\nThe show is being directed by Charlie Rhindress who was a co-founder of Sackville’s Live Bait Theatre and helped run that company for close to twenty years. Rhindress then went on to work as Associate Artist at Neptune Theatre and as Artistic Producer of Halifax’s Eastern Front Theatre. He most recently directed Aloria Mae\, Scape and We’re Still Here for Live Bait.\n\nThe cast is led by Heather Macintyre who has acted for Live Bait and Neptune Theatre among other companies. She is probably best known locally as Grandma in a series of incredibly successful dinner theatres. Emily Atkinson\, Ben Blue\, and Morgan Grant round out the cast. All three are very talented local actors who have appeared in multiple shows with Live Bait\, the Performer’s Company and Marshlight Theatre.\n\nThe Glass Menagerie plays at the Marshlight space on Fairfield Road in Sackville\, NB with shows Friday through Sunday evening and Saturday matinees\, May 2-11. SUMMARY:"The Glass Menagerie" presented by Marshlight Theatre Company
