MAKER MAKER: Appliqué + Embroidery with Paula Jean Cowan
November 20, 2024It’s the final MAKER MAKER of the fall! Join us for a relaxed and playful approach to appliqué and embroidery with Sackville artist, Paula Jean Cowan.
Discover what you can do with just two simple embroidery stitches and a selection of textiles. Dive into our enormous fabric stash to find prints and patterns to inspire you. As a special bonus, you’ll receive your own embroidery hoop that can serve as a frame for your work or that you can use for your next embroidery project!
Paula Jean Cowan (she/her) is an artist and educator of settler ancestry. She has seen some stuff and hopes to see more. She has made some stuff and hopes to make more.
About 20 years ago, she and her family migrated from Southwestern Ontario and settled in Sackville where they live in semi-controlled chaos. In no particular order, she loves art, making things, and her family.
MAKER MAKER is a monthly program of seriously small after-hours art workshops. Led by diverse Maker Mentors, each workshop introduces a pocket-sized art project that can be made in two hours or less. Designed for accomplished and aspiring makers alike, MAKER MAKER is for anyone interested in making small things by hand with friends and fellow makers. This informal workshop series explores how working small can be practical, portable and playful, economical, sharable and even wearable.
MAKER MAKER is free, all materials are provided, and no registration required. This program is made possible thanks to funding from The Rotary Club of Sackville, the Municipality of Tantramar, and the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.
