DESCRIPTION:Slow Art Study Break\nChill\, snack\, linger with art\nSaturday 5 April\n1:00-4:00 pm\nOwens Art Gallery \nWe’re slowing things down this Saturday\, pulling out our bean bag chairs\, setting out snacks\, and seeing what happens when we linger with art. \nCoinciding with the end of classes and the beginning of exams\, this Slow Art Day event is your antidote to the whirlwind of the end of term. \nAt the heart of this event is a brand-new collection of Museum Zines created by Mount Allison students for Mount Allison students that explore various facets of museum experience. Through personal perspectives\, research\, writing\, and creative prompts\, these zines invite you to slow down and engage with the physical space of the gallery and artworks on view. Considering themes of access\, accessibility\, welcome\, belonging and slowness this collection sparks questions and creates space for reflection. \nThe Museum Zine collection was created by students in MUSE 3301\, Museums\, Education and Engagement\, a Museum and Curatorial Studies course taught by Lucy MacDonald\, Curator of Education and Community Outreach. Over the term\, students made almost weekly visits to the Owens as they considered the many factors that shape museum experience. Central to these conversations were ideas of access and accessibility. The students of MUSE 3301 are Alex Allen\, Aynsley Atkinson\, Bennett Beaumont\, Soojeong Chung\, Grace Farella\, Jane Gurney\, Theodore Harris\, Megan Land\, Ai Nakatsuka\, Jacob Puffer\, Bronwen Ramsey-Brimberg\, Jenna Rogers\, and Louisa Thurler. \nSlow Art Study Break is designed for Mount Allison students during the exam period to highlight the importance of art in wellbeing. \nBring a friend or come on your own and stay awhile.
