After a very successful run in 2019 Live Bait is bringing back its Rita MacNeil Tribute, I’m Not What I Seem. This intimate evening of stories and songs was created by Charlie Rhindress, author of the best-selling Rita MacNeil biography, also called I’m Not What I Seem. The show will play in Amherst, Halifax, Sackville, St. Andrews, Saint John and Fredericton.
A four piece, all female group, led by New Brunswick’s Queen of the Blues, Theresa Malenfant, will perform many of MacNeil’s best-known songs as well as some of her hidden gems. Malenfant will be joined by the extraordinarily talented Jennie Del Motte, Mirren Lithwick, and Heather MacIntyre. Rhindress will host the evening, reading from his book and talking about his experience working with MacNeil on his play about her life, Flying On Her Own.
