Drawing in the Galleries with Kamaya Lindquist
June 9, 2018Drop by the Owens and join Sackville artist Kamaya Lindquist for an all-ages drawing extravaganza in the galleries. Whether you are in the mood to make a super-sized sketch or feel more like exploring the miniature, we’ll have paper large and small and all kinds of drawing tools to choose from. Pick up a folding stool and drawing board and find a spot in one of our galleries to doodle, diagram or draw.
There will be a number of different drawing activities taking place throughout the afternoon. Strike a pose or draw a pose in our highwall gallery as we transform this space into a life drawing studio; investigate the details of bird specimens borrowed from the biology department that will be on display in the lobby; or make tiny drawings of tiny furnishings from a dollhouse.
Find inspiration in our current exhibitions, including The Matter at Hand: Paintings and Hand-painted China by Ethel Ogden (1869-1902), Susan Wood and The Colville Gallery.
Kamaya Lindquist is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation, video, sculpture and drawing. Her work explores language, storytelling, human-animal relationships and the domestic, often employing humour in her approach. Observational drawing is a thread that runs through her practice. She holds an MFA from Portland State University, USA.
Drawing in the Galleries is a free community event for all ages. This event is being held in conjunction with the Women’s Arts Festival presented by Live Bait Theatre, Sackville, NB.
